Infographic: London Fashion Week VS Paris Fashion Week
Mar 04, 2015 |
February and March only mean one thing to the stylish elite: Fashion Week. Since Paris fashion week has just kicked off, fashion discovery platform STYLIGHT have been inspired by Vahram Muratyan’s cult book designs to create a visual comparison between London and Paris fashion weeks.
Evidently there are some pretty big differences between the two fashion capitals and historically this has always been the case. Launched in 1973 Paris fashion week is a luxury institution as is considered by many to be the birthplace of style. Home to Balmain, Givenchy, Dior and Chanel it doesn’t get more chic than PFW. In contrast, London fashion week launched 11 years later as a means of showcasing young, innovative design talent and it has largely remained this way. As Alexa Chung stated ‘London Fashion Week is so different from any of the others… London seems freer from commercial constraints. Truer to the process, to street style, to a sense of humour.’ Home to some of the world’s finest young talent such as Christopher Kane, Marques’Almeida, Fashion East and J.W. Anderson, LFW is expressive, laid back and light hearted whilst Paris is classically elegant and refined.
Londoners are happy to rock their normcore Adidas Stan Smiths on the FROW whilst the French wouldn’t be without their classic Louboutins are Chanel Boy Bag. Parisians couldn’t survive fashion week without their driver, espressos and cheeky cigarettes, whilst over in the big smoke the cool kids sip on Aperol Spritz’s in the London Edition and take a break from the shows with an Instagram friendly avocado toast!
So… Which gets your style vote? #TeamLFW or #TeamPFW?
