Travel: a romantic week-end at the five star Citadines Suites Louvre Paris

The stunning view from my Royal Suite balcony – shot with my Leica

Last summer, I decided to take a break from the Paris I know as a Parisian (which
means, as a 30 year old busy professional), to discover Paris as a tourist. I
stayed at the Citadines Suites Louvre Paris, the first 5
star residence by the Ascott Limited group to be opened in Paris.
A premiere for me as I had never stayed at an Ascott Limited
group residence before, I have to say I was quite anticipating the experience:
would an “appart’hotel” residence deserve a 5 star status ? To me, this kind of
residence was more dedicated to the casual traveller, looking for a low-key
place to feel like at home when travelling (and not to those used to the luxury
/ chic hotel services usually associated with 5 stars)… Well, I was wrong !

Actually, the Citadines Suites Louvre Paris is the best alternative
for those looking for full 5 star services while travelling and staying in the area, yet with the
feeling of privacy in their own apartment. Located in the very chich 1st
arrondissement of Paris, right opposite the Comédie-Française theatre, the
Louvre museum and the so Parisian – and very confidential – gardens of the
Palais Royal, the Citadines Suites Louvre Paris epitomises contemporary chic
living in the heart of the city of Lights.

Built in 1908, the residence features an Art Nouveau façade made
from dressed-stone, adorned with balconies, sculptures and colonnades. Recently
refurbished after 9 months and nearly € 6 million of work done, the Citadines
Suites Louvre Paris boasts a grand lobby, a huge lounge, a gourmet breakfast area and
a modern fitness room on the main floor. Accessible 24 hours, those common
areas are decorated with a perfect blend of modern and classical designs.

As soon as I stepped into my 40 m²  Royal Suite, I felt
like at home. It was the typical Parisian apartment, not a simple hotel room…
With a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer, fine tableware, a
Nespresso coffee maker, iPod docking stations, flat screen TVs in both the lounge
and bedroom: technological sophistication combined with the elegance of
contemporary décor, all decorated with exquisite materials. Of course, the
24-hour personalized service made the experience even better.
What I liked the most, though, was the incredible balcony,
running all along the suite from one end to the other: simply fantastic for the
view !
