The Parisian life: 20th century masterpieces from the Private Collection of Félix Marcilhac @ Sotheby’s

Mar 10, 2014 | Parisian Eye
An exceptional event is taking place in Paris this week: on March 11 and 12, a sale will
be held at Sotheby’s Paris. This sale will see masterpieces of the 20th century decorative arts from the Private Collection of the great dealer, expert, art historian and
Art Nouveau/Art Deco pioneer Félix Marcilhac be auctioned.

Ahead of the exceptional sale, I visited this unique ensemble, assembled
over forty years, and featuring a series of Art Deco masterpieces not seen in public for
decades – and coming from prestigious figures such as Marie-Laure de Noailles, Elsa Schiaparelli, Jeanne Lanvin, and Paul
Cocteau.

Among the extraordinary 300 lots featuring Glass by Emile Gallé, a Pierre
Legrain console, Ceramics by Dalpayrat and Henri Simmen, and many scluptures and furniture, my favorite pieces definitely are the bronze sculptures by Gustav Miklos.
